Pupil Responsibilities
Pupil Responsibilities
Across school pupils are given opportunities to take responsibility in areas that we think are really important. They take their roles very seriously and strive to make a difference in our school.
Each child plays an important role of being a monitor in their class - from being in charge of keeping reading books tidy, handing out equipment to sharpening pencils! Having responsibility for keeping our classrooms safe and tidy, allows our pupils to develop important skills that will help them later in life.
School Council
Our School Council was chosen via a democratic vote. Candidates from Year 1-4 stood in front of their peers and stated why they wanted to be on the council. Once chosen, the children formed a team of 14 who meet every Monday and help make this school a better place to be. The children are elected to represent their friends and make decisions about school life. They work with school staff to discuss and improve the school by talking about concerns, organizing events, and taking on projects related to school improvement, such as improving the playground or school lunches. Within our school council we have a head boy and head girl, 2 representatives for the WISE Pupil Leadership team and remaining council members who take on roles such as digital leaders, eco warriors and friendship buddies.
Year 4 Buddies
In Year 4, all of our children are given the opportunity to take responsibility in wider school life. We have four roles:
-Book buddies
-Playground buddies
-Lunch buddies
-Office buddles
Children rotate through these roles within the school year, helping with serving lunches to younger children, distributing letters and stationary from the office, keeping our libraries and books tidy and supporting other children outside with their play.
